New Classrooms is excited to work with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to identify exceptional students who may be a great fit for the Young Scholars Program.
A selective 5-year pre-college scholarship for high-performing middle school students with financial need, it is the largest scholarship of its kind in the nation. The program provides students with educational advising and financial supports from 8th grade through high school. This includes funds for enrichment programs, educational travel, technology, counseling to set academic goals, guidance on applying to colleges, and the costs of attending private and public high schools. Since 2001 there have been 817 Young Scholars, who have received a total of $21.7M in scholarships and supports.
Each year, the Cooke Foundation selects Young Scholars from a nationwide applicant pool based on
- High academic ability and achievement
- Demonstrated financial need
- Drive and persistence
- Desire to help others
Young Scholars come from all racial and ethnic backgrounds and from rural, suburban, and urban communities throughout the United States. Many Young Scholars are the first in their family to pursue college education. New Classrooms shares in the mission to ensure all students, starting with middle school, have the resources to achieve and continue academic success in high school, college, and career.
Students at New Classrooms and Teach to One: Math partner schools are encouraged to apply for this exciting scholarship opportunity.
